Roadside grieving

It does not fill me with ease to see all the roadside memorials when I go out for a run. But if I ever am struck and killed while running, I hope no one will memorialize me with fake flowers on a metal guard rail. Instead, plant a flowering tree somewhere sheltered, and remember me there.

I don't think I know the names of many flowering trees. Help...
I really like crab apple trees when they bloom, but wouldn't want to offend anyone by remembering them with a tree that reminds people of crabbiness.
